Auditions

The new local musical is holding auditions next week. I need to be a part of this cast. Want to do something I love and be part of this family…

As I’ve discussed in previous posts, my dream has always been to be an actor. But that always took a back seat to life in general. After many acting courses, agents, extra roles, and short films, my kids were born and I left it all behind.

Since my separation over three years ago, I’ve wanted to get back into acting. Finally got a role in one musical (non-singing), only to have it cancelled due to too many Covid lockdowns and restrictions. But I didn’t have to sing for my auditions as I’d never sang before in my life.

Now that I’m making so many changes in my life this year, I got involved again in the last show by volunteering to be a spotlight operator. It was so much fun, but it was difficult socially as the cast had all bonded over months of rehearsals.

I started singing lessons a few months ago and with the auditions, there has to be a song. The only person who’s heard me sing is my teacher. Though at least she is on the auditions panel! Until tonight, wasn’t sure I could do it. But after speaking to my teacher and having a lesson, I’m feeling much better about it.

The song I chose for my audition is ”Million to One” by Camila Cabello from ”Cinderella”. It’s about chasing your dreams and beating the odds. After years of giving up on my dream, time to give it one last shot.

Auditions are in six days, time for that motivation to kick in. Just going to give it everything I’ve got. I’ll keep you updated…
